An Improved Way to Keep Calves Warmer in Freezing Temps

A decade ago, a dairy producer came to us for a door or cover solution for the entry into a calf hutch. Young calves are extremely vulnerable in heavy snow and freezing conditions and need extra protection to stay well in adverse weather. At the time there was not an acceptable solution on the market. With our ingenuity, steel fabrication capabilities and expertise in working with industrial fabrics, our research and development department, invented a door cover to fit most styles of calf hutches. The “Genesis Calf Hutch Weather Shield” is designed to keep the cold and snow out with easy quick installation. The door covers can be installed in seconds, and are manufactured with durable materials to last for many years.

Easy Set Up

The shield easily attaches without tools or brackets and is constructed out galvanized steel tube with an outer frame and lower attachment bracket. The fabric is a clear, reinforced vinyl which allows light to penetrate, allowing sunshine to warm the unit. This tough fabric has a cold crack rating and is UV protected for long life. The cover allows sunshine to enter the hutch and interior temperatures can increase to over 40 degrees Fahrenheit during daylight hours even when the outside temperature is in the low single digits. Genesis Calf Hutch Weather Shield has successfully protected thousands of calves on dairy farms, all across the United States and Canada for the past ten years.
