Cover tarps are made without the use of thread or sewing. Heat sealing has taken the place of sewing as hems and lap seams are welded. Hot air units travel along seams and melt the fabric together for a durable seal. Also weldable webbing has become more popular as reinforcement material. The advantage of welding is that the fabric is not pierced as with sewing needles and there is no added expense of thread. Hot air machines make this procedure simple and cost effective.
